General Session Day 2

The General Session Day 2 of the Green California Summit features Bharat Patel and Bill Orr.

Bharat Patel is the Vice President and Director of Sustainability at URS Corporation. He has over 28 years design and construction experience in sustainable development and has worked on building projects with leading architects in Europe, Asia and America. An expert in benchmarking carbon and trading it as a commodity, Bharat is a LEED Accredited Professional and is past chair of the Los Angeles chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council. He is on the Community Advisory Board at the Union Bank of California helping initiate funding green developments.

William "Bill" Orr co-founded the Collaborative for High Performance Schools, and is its Executive Director. He served as head of the CHPS technical committee for three years and worked for the State of California's Integrated Waste Management Board for almost thirty. Forging a path for the growth of green schools in an era of enormous spending cuts in education has only served to challenge him, as he is taking CHPS national and establishing collaborations in several states. His long term goal is that all schools will one day be high performance schools, but meanwhile the focus is on creating tools that will help existing schools renovate for energy savings and procure green products and services.
